What is Garnier Nutritioniste Ultra Lift?

This is a facial moisturizer brought to you by the Garnier Nutritioniste company. Many of you know this brand as a celebrity endorsed, green labeled drug store brand. They offer a variety of hair care, facial care and body care products that are easy to find and wallet friendly. This specific product is a facial day cream that offers sun protection against both UVA and UVB rays. Garnier makes claims that this cream will help with the appearance of aging by toning, tightening and beautifying the skin with the help of what they call “Pro-Retinol from nature”.

 

How does Garnier Nutritioniste Ultra Lift work?

The company site doesn’t give many details on this ingredient. They say their ingredients include

“Pro-Retinol from nature with other skin-essential nutrients”

When I looked closer at what the “other skin-essential nutrients” are the company states

“Ingredient complexes developed exclusively by Garnier to work on skin’s outer layer”

I feel like these ingredient lists are vague and don’t give me much of anything to go off of when it comes to why and how this product works.

• Omega 3 + 6- Omega acids are fatty acids that play a crucial role in cell function; there are also known as polyunsaturated fatty acids. These polyunsaturated fatty acids help stimulate skin and hair growth.  Omega’s 3 and 6 also help keep your skin looking healthy and young and will help give your skin intense hydration.
• Rice Protein- This substantive protein also increases the ability of skin and hair to bind moisture.  On the skin, increased moisture retention results in a more hydrated and elastic surface. It is also an effective anti-irritant and leaves a smooth, dry feel on skin.
• Vitamin A- skin benefits include helping with acne, stretch marks, wounds, wrinkles, and eczema; preventing premature aging; contributing to proper skin cell growth and repair; and promoting healthy skin. A deficiency of vitamin A leads acne, dry and unhealthy skin.

Final Thoughts

I don’t think that this product is anything more than a cheap moisturizer, which may be exactly what some people need and want. If you are looking for more dramatic and long term results then I think that is product will leave you unsatisfied. The claims of its anti-aging properties don’t seem to be able to be met by the quality and ingredients (or lack of ingredients). I do like that this cream is said to smell good but to me that isn’t enough of a reason to buy this product. I do however like that this product offers sun protection. I strongly recommend that you use a sunscreen everyday to protect your skin from free radicals, age and sun spots, the breakdown of collagen and elastin and other harmful effects that the sun can do to your skin. I do think that a facial sunscreen should be around a 30 spf, and this one is only a 15. Like I mentioned earlier, I think there are better products out there that will give you better and more lasting results.
